John Manley

I have always approached the medium of photography as a method of storytelling whilst recording authenticity and objectivity. My challenge has been to see beyond the distraction of the conspicuous, treasuring the local and small scale, the eccentric and the ordinary. Following early retirement from Local Government, I decided to follow my ambition to become a part of the larger photographic artistic community, hence my participation in the BA (Hons) programme.  Studying to degree level has and continues to be an enlightenment; inspiring me to develop my own individual photographic practise and educate me in the appreciation of art and creativity. Subsequently, I graduated with a first class honours degree and decided to continue on my journey of enlightenment, thus I embarked  on a post graduate masters degree.    The images in this portfolio are an eclectic mix of genres and projects.
